English Heritage is a national treasure, a charity that devotes its time to managing mahy historic buildings and places of interest across the UK. The seaside town of Scarborough - itself something of a treasure to many - boasts medieval castle ruins dating back to the 12th century, providing a much-visited building that sits proudly on the hill-top overlooking the North Sea.
Early in 2020, English Heritage approached the team at Jupiter to tender for works at the visitor area of the site. The client was looking to upgrade the toilet facility in full, and saw the lockdown period as an ideal time to have the works completed.
Works commenced in May 2020 and involved the complete refurbishment of the visitor toilet areas – male, female, baby change and disabled units – which were stripped in full, before new electrical and mechanical components, cubicles, IPS, vanity units, flooring, decorating fixtures and fittings installed. Timing was critical since the client had a need for the facility to be ready immediately post-lockdown. The project was managed in full by our experienced site team, completed on time, and within budget.
We look forward to working with English Heritage in the future.
