York is one of England’s most popular cities, with a rich history that helps to attract around 8million visitors on average each year. To visitors and residents alike, one of the city’s busiest thoroughfares is Coney Street, with multiple retail stores, departments stores and eateries all sitting among architecture that dates back to the 15th century.
Our client, NFU Mutual, provides insurance to multiple businesses in York including many on Coney Street. On making contact with Jupiter in November 2017, it became clear a section of businesses in an adjoining building – River Island, Next and Monsoon – all required restoration to their exterior façade, as well as some refurbishment and planned maintenance works.
The project involved fully scaffolding the front façade to enable the masonry restoration works, a task that requires optimum care and safety on a busy thoroughfare. The team also had to ensure access to all of the retail stores was maintained, to minimise any impact to their business. One the façade works were completed, our team replaced the rain water goods and completed various works to the roof and car park area.
Drawing on our experience of working in city centre locations, our team managed the project extremely well, completing within the scheduled 5 weeks and £45,000 budget.
