The Beacon Academy offers secondary education to young people in and around Cleethorpes, in England’s North. It is one of 23 schools in the region managed by the Wellspring Academy Trust and currently welcomes over 1467 pupils and staff through its gates each Monday to Friday during term-time.
Incepted in September 2017, the school took over an existing facility which was no longer in use. Prior to its opening, a site inspection had found some of the temporary buildings posed a health and safety hazard to the staff and students, due to their age. On further assessment, each one was deemed beyond repair and the school requested funding from the Trust to see each one removed from the site.
Appointed as Principal Contractor by AHR Architects, Jupiter Construction carried out the demolition of the temporary classrooms including removal of the materials, the capping off services and landscaping works, leaving the area in a safe state for future use. Since the works were carried out prior to the school’s reopening after the summer vacation, there was no impact to the school’s operation or danger to pupils and staff.
The project was completed within the estimated 3 weeks and £45,000 budget, to a high standard.
