Spanning fifteen weeks and concluding on the 9th of September 2022, Jupiter Construction successfully completed a £500,000 refurbishment project for Odsal Fire Station, commissioned by West Yorkshire Fire Service. The project aimed to enhance existing facilities, showcasing Jupiter Construction's proficiency in delivering quality construction solutions within operational environments.
Following a competitive tender process, Jupiter Construction was entrusted with upgrading and bettering the facilities at Odsal Fire Station. The project encompassed various improvements, including the refurbishment of existing dormitories, gym, TV rooms on the first floor, and upgrading the ground floor watch rooms, offices, kitchen, and WC facilities. The goal was to ensure these spaces were not only fit for purpose but also more accommodating for the end users.
First-Floor Upgrades
The layout of dormitories, gym, and TV rooms was altered to enhance functionality and meet the specific needs of the fire station personnel.
A blockwork wall was installed within the appliance bay to create three new rooms, providing additional storage, office space, and an improved kit room.
Ground Floor Enhancements
Watch rooms, offices, kitchen, and WC facilities on the ground floor underwent comprehensive upgrades, including new flooring and decoration.
External improvements involved the replacement of timber windows with aluminium to enhance durability and aesthetics.
Infrastructure Upgrades
The existing heating system received an upgrade, and the electrical system was extended to meet the evolving needs of the fire station.
As Odsal Fire Station remained operational during the construction works, meticulous planning was crucial. The project required careful coordination to ensure power outages and other activities did not impact the fire service's operational capacity. Daily communication between Jupiter's site manager and the watch manager ensured smooth operations without disruption to West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue's services.
