The Astrea Academy Trust, situated in Sheffield, manages a collective of 20 academy schools and colleges found primarily in the Sheffield, Doncaster and Rotherham regions of South Yorkshire. Astrea Academy Woodfields, in Doncaster, is a large facility which offers education to senior aged pupils from years 7 to 13.
The school’s Y block is a high-traffic area and one the Trust felt required a full refurbishment to improve the facility for its pupils and staff. With extensive experience in building and remodelling schools, Jupiter Construction was appointed by Astrea Academy Trust as the Principal Contractor for the project in September 2020.
With just 9 weeks allocated to complete this £1.3m refurb, it was essential the team from Jupiter spent time on the planning before the ground work commenced to ensure their time on the tools was maximised. Once underway, the project included installing an over-roofing system to the existing profile, and replacing all windows and doors to the facility. Internally, the team from Jupiter managed the Mechanical and Electrical works, decorations, floor finishes and fit-out.
A fast-track project due to its short timescales, the building’s refurbishment was carried out efficiently by our site team, with the works completed on time and within budget.
