As one of the UK’s favourite supermarkets, ALDI offers its customers best-value on a wide range in food, drinks and consumer goods, with over 870 stores currently in operation – including ALDI Withernsea, in Yorkshire’s East Riding.
After an equipment inspection, ALDI’s logistics team had recognised the need to replace the scissor lift mechanism - an item critical to managing incoming goods effectively - at a number of their depots, Withernsea being one.
Appointed by ALDI UK as Principal Contractor for the works, Jupiter Construction were tasked in replacing the scissor lift at the Withernsea branch, together with all of the associated construction works.
The project in full included a collection of preparatory works before the lift itself could be installed. First, a new resin flooring was fitted within the facilities stores. Next, the electrics were prepared, as well as new buffer posts and gates to offer protection in the lift’s vicinity. Finally, the team helped manage the new scissor lift’s installation to the goods entrance.
Most of the works were carried out in a live store, with some undertaken outside of the stores opening hours, to ensure ALDI’s operations remained unaffected. The 1 week project was completed on time and within the £50,000 budget.
