Jupiter Construction was appointed by Aldi UK to deliver critical reroofing upgrades at two operational stores: Aldi Haydock and Aldi Burton-upon-Trent. Both projects were part of Aldi's national improvement programme, aimed at addressing long-standing roof issues while ensuring minimal disruption to trading.
At Aldi Haydock, we carried out a full strip and reroof of the store’s pitched roof. The works involved:
The key challenge was delivering the works while the store remained live. Jupiter implemented carefully phased working hours, client agreed methodology and safety measures to ensure no impact to trading or public access.
The project was delivered over a 12-week period, completed slightly ahead of schedule and within budget. Close collaboration with Aldi UK’s project team, contract administrators Edge, and architects from the Harris Partnership ensured seamless coordination.
The Burton-upon-Trent project followed a similar scope, with a contract period of 14 weeks. Our team installed a full scaffold perimeter while maintaining public access via a designed scaffold entrance section. Works included:
Seamless coordination between Jupiter, Edge, Harris Partnership, and suppliers such as Sika ensured a smooth process, despite unforeseen conditions including outdated information on the flat roof’s insulation and drainage. Sika provided onsite inspections and detailed calculations to support specification updates.
Once again, careful planning allowed the store to remain open, with all public-facing risks fully controlled. Despite the city centre location and delivery restrictions, the project was completed on programme and within the client’s budget.
These two schemes reflect Jupiter Construction’s ability to plan, manage and deliver high-quality roofing refurbishments within live environments. Our ongoing collaboration with Aldi UK continues to demonstrate our commitment to excellence, safety, and delivering value to our clients.
