Various Stores Across the Yorkshire and Humber Region
Aldi UK operates over 850 supermarkets across the country with many situated in the Yorkshire and Humber region, servicing thousands of loyal customers 7-days per week.

When the coronavirus pandemic hit, Aldi stores were tasked with creating a queueing system that allowed customers to maintain social distancing. Not wanting to leave shoppers exposed to the elements, Aldi appointed Jupiter as the principal contractor to install shelters at 11 of their Yorkshire or Humber-based stores.

The project involved all of the preparatory groundwork and laying foundations for each of the shelters.

First, the trolley bays and hoops had to be moved elsewhere in the parking area to make space for the new shelters. Next, each shelter was erected and secured to the foundations, before the team resurfaced the area around the shelter to make it good.

All works were carried out whilst the stores remained in operation, meaning regular and clear communication with store managers was key. It took 5 weeks in total to roll out the queueing shelters across each of the stores, with the whole project completed on time and within budget.
