Challenges and Scope

Timing was a crucial factor with this three-phase project, once the site had been cleared a traditional masonry structure was erected (brickwork and blockwork) Timber roofing, tiling and standard aluminium windows and doors. Then followed a full internal fit out with M&E package, suspended ceilings and decorations, outside the building itself, a new playground was created with a retaining wall and of course secure fencing.

This project called for the installation of an attenuation tank.

This led into the summer holidays and phase two which was the ideal time to refurb the existing reception classroom building and covered off all the standard items that would be expected, new doors, windows, remodelling, toilets and decorations etc this phase saw the creation of a covered walkway which a new addition to the site, joining the two buildings.

Finally phase three saw the handover of the new build aligned with the demolition of the existing modular building that created the space for the formation of a new car park, the key challenge with this project was the fact that a break in led to delays due to pipework and cabling theft but this was quickly managed ensuring minimum delay to the project.

Given the works were planned and booked to be completed during the summer break there could be no allowance or slippage in terms of timings which is well known to the Jupiter Construction team given the high volume of education related projects that the team have completed in recent years.

The Team

The team involved in this project were very experienced from Contracts Management to Quantity Surveyor, Site Management and Health and Safety support, this extended to a robustly managed team of sub-contractors, Jupiter Construction prides itself on a reliable and suitably competent supply chain with a solid Pre-Construction phase built into all projects.  The short delay as a result of the break in was managed dynamically with a recovery programme actioned straight away to keep the delay short lived.

Successes

Jupiter Construction achieved success for the client, delivering a timely project completion whilst adhering to budgetary constraints, working with the client to manage communication around the one key issue, and the delay was factored in as efficiently as possible to ensure a seamless delivery of the core project aims, all finished to the high standard that the Jupiter Construction team have become known for and of course to the clients satisfaction.
