Outwood Grange Academies Trust manages a collective of primary, junior and secondary school academies across the north of England. Recognised nationally as an education ‘high performer’, the Trust provides schooling for approximately 25,000 students in over 30 academies – Bell Lane Primary School among them.
In July, Jupiter was appointed by the Trust as the main contractor to carry out the necessary refurbishment at the Bell Lane facility. The project objective was to bring the school in line with current standards for effective safeguarding and safety, and to improve the building’s aesthetics.
After the initial survey and during subsequent meetings between Jupiter and the Trust, the project team established exactly what the school was looking to achieve and finalised a plan to provide:
800sqm of new flooring
Full decorating of the school’s interior
Creation of new classrooms through a remodelling of the interior
Creating a new toilet block
Implementing safeguarding elements to the outer perimeter and internal security
New windows and doors replaced or installed as new
Some of the project’s major works involved stripping the old flooring, partition walls, toilets blocks, suspended ceilings and forming new openings for steelwork where required. All electrical, flooring and decorating of areas created as new were included.
The project, which took place during the school’s summer holiday period to avoid any impact during term-time, was completed on time and within budget, ahead of the new academic year.
