During Spring 2023 Jupiter Construction successfully completed a 12-week remodel of Ainleys Depot yard and refurbishment of garage and workshop area with associated external works occurring simultaneously due to client requirements. The contract fell under the Calderdale Council Terms and Conditions.
Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council is the local authority for the Metropolitan Borough of Calderdale in West Yorkshire, England.
This project was significant in terms of the volume of connected but separate tasks, including the demolition of two existing buildings including the footings and removal of unlicensed asbestos. Installation of new fencing and gates, Groundworks to enable a new substation, associated electrical works encompassing a major M&E package. Supply and fit of new steel doors, infilling of openings utilising the masonry from the demolitions which was then rendered, where rendering was not appropriate a repointing exercise was undertaken. Internally a full floor screeding, minor roof works including guttering, decorations to floor and walls and joinery to new kitchen area, doors and work benches in the newly created section.
A key challenge with this project was the traffic management of the vehicles visiting the live public waste management site which was situated next door but egress from this site overlapped the site that the project was taking place on meaning that and at the same time there was a live Grit “Salt Bin” store that was being used to supply to Gritters throughout the works – All meaning that traffic management had to be controlled as did pedestrian access and egress.
